Old Prince Walean Association Sierra Leone

The Old Princewaleans Association (OPWA) is a body made up of past pupils of the Prince Of Wales School Kingtom, Freetown, Sierra Leone. The Prince Of Wales School Kingtom, is itself one of the premier secondary/ high schools in Sierra Leone. It is a government-owned institution which was officially opened on the 6th day of April 1925 commemorating the historic visit of His Royal Highness Prince Edward, the Prince Of Wales (later crowned King Edward VIII).

Graduates of the school who were desirous in maintaining the relationship amongst themselves started meeting in the spirit of bonding together, resonating with the wordings of the school song ... Though scattered far we seldom meet the friends our boyhood knew... The early meetings of those past pupils invariably laid the foundation of what was to become recognized as the Old Pupils Association of the Prince Of Wales School. (The exact date of the formation of this union of Past Pupils is not recorded but there is some evidence suggesting that the Association was in existence in the 1950s).

The Old Princewaleans Association, Freetown is the oldest of the Alumni Associations of the Prince Of Wales School and has served as the Parent body for the other smaller branches/chapters in different parts of the country, especially in the major tertiary academic institutions. OPWA has been a hub for other Alumni Chapters, piloting their activities and gathering  support for a network of old Princewaleans. OPWA has over the years consciously aimed at maintaining and/or raising the profile of old Princewaleans and the Prince Of Wales School, Kingtom. The operations of the Association are guided by its Constitution. Thus, OPWA aims at, amongst other things, establishing and maintaining a liaison amongst old Princewaleans, working in close co-operation with the Board of Governors, the Community Teachers Association, the Administration of the School, the general Prince Of Wales School community and other Alumni Associations of various schools in Sierra Leone. On the 12th of July 2024, OPWA held its Annual General Meeting with the theme A Century of Excellence. The following members were elected into office with a two-year mandate:
